The bid for the 2029 World Winter Games in Switzerland has cleared a first important hurdle. The Chur City Council has been given the green light by the municipal council to press ahead with preparations for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2029 in Chur and the rest of the canton. The municipal council passed this resolution unanimously. The bid for the second-largest winter sports event in the world will be submitted to Special Olympics International at the end of January 2021. With this unique opportunity and a structured concept, a valuable contribution can be made to an inclusive society. In addition, Switzerland, Graubünden, Zurich and the host cities of Chur, Arosa and Lenzerheide can present themselves to the world as friendly hosts and position their destinations.
